Not exactly on Lojban, but possibly of interest to some of you

Art Protin at least, and who knows how many else, seem unhappy with the
Lojban place-value assumptions. I do not think that the way to solve Art's
problem exists within Lojban; it has already gone too far to change. On the
"conlang" list, devoted to constructed languages in general, I made a
proposal to create a new language, in a sense based on predications like
Loglan/Lojban, but with the explicit assumption that NO predicate implicitly
includes any places, and ALL places will be marked explicitly by prepositions.
If there are any of you who would like to be part of this effort, please
e-mail me. Nobody will be required to abandon interest in Lojban to join the
group; in fact _I_ retain an interest in Lojban even though I do not agree with
the direction it has taken in some areas. This is a chance to get in on the
ground floor; nothing has been baselined or even proposed yet except the
"predicate-first, followed by prepositional phrases as needed" structure.
Since this is a _new_ proposal which has nothing to do with Lojban except that
it was inspired by a look at Loglan/Lojban, I will not say anything more on
Lojban-list about it. To this point, we have two members in the group, myself
and John West of Australia. While I feel that even with two we can do something,
I would like to see more (and have specifically contacted Art Protin). Within
a week I hope to begin working on concrete proposals, so if you are interested,
please e-mail me as soon as possible.

Thank you.
