The "bI thing" is listed with an IPA value of "barred i".  That is what
I used to call it.  I think the use of [I] picked up from something Cowan
wrote that I took as a correction.  A sound halfway between Lojban
'i' and 'y' has been what I intended all along, with possibly a little higher/
further back if needed to isolate further - pushing into the space where
no Lojban vowel dares to tread.

If you can suggest terminology and sample words that will make this clearer,
Ivan, it might help discussions much.
